My Own Journey

I reluctantly went to my first fitness class following advice from my G.P. that I needed to give up cigarettes and lose weight, about 3 stone.  I was overweight, constantly tired and unhappy with how I looked and felt.  I didn’t know anything about the gym or fitness. I left the Doctor’s that day feeling angry and frustrated but slowly digested what he had said.  I had to change many of my bad habits one day at a time and so my journey began.

I started by going to the gym once a week.  It took me two years to build up the courage to go to a fitness class.  The one class became two classes a week and it grew from there.  I looked at the trainer and thought what a fantastic job to do.  I left feeling both inspired and excited and after a bit time decided to get all of my qualifications and began what will hopefully be a lifetime career in something I love.

I get to share my own experience and understand how daunting it is starting out or getting back to exercise.  I do my best to support and encourage many others who want to make the change to become healthier, both physically and mentally.  PB Fitness is now a community that I am very proud of, where many friendships are formed. Whether you are with me in studio or online I am always mindful of that person there for the first time, as are my regulars.  We all make the effort to make someone feel welcome. I will never take it for granted. If you are able and healthy enough to be able to train then you are one of the lucky ones.

American Council of Exercise and Fitness (ACE)

I qualified as a Personal Trainer in 2004 with the American Council of Exercise and Fitness (ACE).   I also have further qualifications in Sports Nutrition, a National Certificate in Exercise and Fitness, Kettlebell Training, Spinning instruction, Fitness Pilates and First Aid. I am driven by a passion for all that is health related including Strength Training  and Running. I love to share my experience and knowledge gained over the past 20 years with you. I have worked with various clubs such as Midleton Athletics Club, Ballintotis Fit4life, Salto Gymnastics and I deliver classes on behalf of the Cork Sports Partnership. I have completed 14 Full Marathons and many other races. I am a busy mother of two children, love what I do and lead by example.

PB Fitness classes are embedded in the community of Aghada and Midleton in East Cork and offer a very personal service empowering you to be the best version of yourself, whether you want to lose weight, cope better with anxiety or be stronger for yourself, your family, in your running or sport. I organise regular social events such as climbs on Caurrauntohill, mudruns and nights out where many close friendships are formed.
